Our Sunset kayaking tour should be on everyone’s bucket list. Come kayaking with us at the most spectacular time of day when the sky is rich with colour. Evening kayaking gives you the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet while looking out on the Pasley Islands.
Sunset Kayaking Tour Meeting Details
All our tours start with dry land instruction to ensure that you are comfortable and confident before launching your kayak. Our guide to paddler ratio is 1:6, these small groups ensure your safety on and off the water. Your guide will be happy to share some paddling tips to ensure you have the best time possible. The guides are always on the lookout for amazing wildlife to share with you.
The tour launches from the gently sloping beach at Tunstall Bay on the west side of Bowen Island. The tour lasts for 2.5 hours and is suitable for all skill levels. Families with teenage children are most welcome. If you need transportation to Tunstall Bay please let us know in advance. Advance reservations are required for this tour.
We ask that you meet your guide at Tunstall Bay on the west side of Bowen Island, around 15 minutes before your tour start time. We will be easy to spot, look for either a car with kayaks on the roof or a trailer loaded up with your vessel for the evening!
Tour times change depending upon the time of sunset, we will call you a day or so in advance to make sure you know when to meet! Popular with locals, Tunstall Bay is great for swimming and beautiful sunsets. Parking at Tunstall Bay is free but can get very busy in the summer months, please leave time to find parking.
When we meet you we will have all the equipment needed with us including a personal floatation device for each guest. Please remember, temperatures will start to drop as the sun goes down, so bring an extra layer for when we are finished. Also bring a drink and a snack, these can be easily packed into your kayak. A sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are also strongly recommended.

What will we see on our Sunset kayak tour?
After our safety briefing, we will launch you and head North, following the coastline past Onion Island where the seals hang out. If we are quiet they will happily share the evening sun with us. After chilling out with the seals we continue on to Bowen Bay and then further north to King Edward beach.
By this point we will have spectacular views of Ragged and Mickey Islands to our left with the Tantalus Mountains in the distance ahead of us. We often raft together at this point to chat about the history and ecology of the area. It’s a great spot for that drink and snack.
Next we turn southwards and begin paddling towards Cape Roger Curtis, the most south western point on Bowen Island. This time we will paddle away from the shore giving you an open water experience. Here you will enjoy the gentle swell of the ocean and the views across to Vancouver Island.
As Sunset approaches we return to Tunstall Bay so you can watch the sun slip gently from view. Your guide will always be near you without disturbing the tranquility of the final moments of this memorable tour. After the sun sets it is a very short distance back to the beach at Tunstall Bay where your tour ends.
