Beginner paddling routes
The sheltered bays of Snug Cove and Mannion Bay are perfect for inexperienced kayakers. Just a short 10 minute paddle from the kayak shop takes you into Mannion Bay where the seal colony lives year round. In the Spring we have sea-lions frequenting the local docks and flocks of seabirds on the shoreline.
Check out the purple Sea Stars living on the rocks in the intertidal zone. As you paddle gaze out across the ocean to the beautiful snow-capped North Shore mountains. Breathe deeply and enjoy simply being on the ocean, allow yourself to relax and unwind.
Every kayaking guest receives a safety briefing and a paddle demonstration on dry land before we launch you. Our team will spend time making sure you are comfortable sitting in your kayaks before you head out.
If you are nervous about exploring with your friends, why not book one of our spectacular Shoreline Tours, giving you confidence by paddling with a trained guide.

Experienced kayaker routes
Experienced kayakers often paddle the 10km round trip to Finisterre at the Northern end of Bowen Island. Cates Bay beach is a beautiful place to stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the spectacular mountain vistas. Alternatively, head South and explore Apodaca Park, the latest BC Marine Trails campsite. A 3-4 hour rental will allow either of these routes to be paddled.
Every season some of our regular guests rent kayaks for the full day and kayak around Bowen Island. We will chat with everyone booking a full day rental to make sure we know where you are heading. This trip is 32km of paddling, so be ready for a full day out on the ocean
